Identity

In class, we looked at pictures of four famous people when they were young before they became famous. You were asked if you recognized them and what information you could give about them. Below is a little further reading to help you understand more about these people.

We also talked about what factors make up your identity. Items like your name, address, phone number, photo, ID number, sex, nationality, family, date of birth and employment. We talked about how important these are at forming your identity and how you could change these at some time in the future or not, as the case may be.

Lastly, we talked about ID card. We discussed why we use them and what purpose they serve. I explained that in the UK, there is no single national ID card. The government did try to introduce ID cards over the last decade but it met with protests for a large variety of reasons. The UK government has since abolished the ID card scheme.
